Portraying the Women's Land Army has always been a favourite of Edna. Her horsemanship skills have proved vital when working heavy horses to gather in the wartime harvest.

Her Women's Land Army impression is the back bone to Harry & Edna's very popular
Victory in the Garden scenario / re-enactment.

The images above where taken at Gressinghall working farm museum in Norfolk. Edna is working with Jill and Cecile who are all wearing variations of 'walking out' & working uniform.

The working uniform consists of  bid & brace overalls (dungarees), rubber boots (or working men's boots),  milking coat (like a Mackintosh) and of course the head scarf. The much smarter walking out uniform included brown brogue shoes, brown corduroy breeches, knee-length woollen socks, V-necked pullover , Aertex shirt,  WLA tie formal wear, WLA "pork pie" hat, WLA badge and armband.

The Women's Land Army was made up of girls from every walk of life.  Posters showed girls enjoying sunshine in open fields. However raw recruits, many from industrial towns soon found it gruelling hard work and monotonous.
