For this impression / re-enactment Harry & Edna recreated a civil defence encampment from which they perform a series of interactive scenarios. The demonstrations are all based on the civil defence measures taken in WW2.
The recreated Civil Defence encampment usually includes a WVS field kitchen, thus allowing Harry & Edna to also perform the Wartime Kitchen.
The 'ABC of ARP' scenario starts by explaining about the different types of incendiary bombs & the benefits to the homeowner of investing in a stirrup pump.
This is followed by a practical demonstration based on a WW2 civil defence incendiary bomb drill. Harry & Edna then appeal to the visitors to step forward for training.
Harry & Edna can also combine the talk with a popular craft activity when younger visitors make their own gas masks out of cardboard and a plastic cup.
Because of Harry & Edna's knowledge of the Blitz and Civil Defence, UKTV History chose Harry & Edna to appear as the lead in a programme about 'The Blitz'.
